Red Velvet Cake Recipe

Today I am publishing this enticing and velvety red velvet cake  recipe which is in great demand during birthdays and on valentine day. The cake looks deep red in colour mainly due to the red colouring agent which is used as one of the ingredients in the recipe but you can even use beet root juice and avoid the colouring agent. Even though both the ingredients such as cocoa and vanilla flavour are used in this recipe, you cannot name it as a chocolate cake or as a vanilla cake but rightly name it as the red velvet cake mainly due to the colour component. Traditionally, we use cream cheese frosting for this red velvet cake recipe but you can replace it with butter frosting too. So why delay, lets proceed with the procedure.

    How To Prepare Red Velvet Cake Recipe.

    The time taken to prepare this red velvet cake is around 1 hour and the quantity yielded here is around 2 kgs.

    Ingredients For Red Velvet Cake .

    • Sugar - 2 cups.
    • Eggs - 2.
    • Oil -  1 / 2 cups.
    • All purpose flour ( maida ) - 2 1 / 2 cups.
    • Cocoa powder -1 tbsp.
    • Salt - 1 tsp.
    • Baking soda - 1 tsp.
    • Butter milk - 1 cup.
    • Vinegar - 1 tbsp.
    • Vanilla flavor - 1 tsp.
    • Red food colour - 2  tbsp.


    Method To Make Red Velvet cake Recipe.

    • Pre - heat the oven to 180 degree centigrade for around 10 minutes.
    • Sieve the flour, salt, cocoa powder, baking powder twice.
    • Take a big bowl.
    • Break the eggs and beat it in a electric beater for around 2 minutes.
    • Add sugar and continue to whisk.
    • Now add oil, butter milk, vanilla flavour, and red food colour,  and mix it well with the electric beater.
    • Finally fold in the dry ingredients along with the wet ingredients and mix it in a cut and fold method till the batter is properly mixed .
    • Grease a cake tin with the butter and sprinkle maida all over it and tap the base and remove if excess.
    • Pour the cake batter into the greased cake mould.
    • Now add the vinegar and mix it well.
    • Tap the mould once again and place it in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

    Cream Cheese Frosting

    • Cream cheese - 1 cup.
    • Butter - 1 cup.
    • Vanilla essence - 1 tsp.
    • Confectionery sugar - 6 cups.
    1. Take a bowl and add 6 cups of sugar in to it .
    2. Beat cream cheese and butter in another bowl until it turns creamy. 
    3. Add vanilla essence and mix it well.
    4. Now add sugar and mix it well.
    5. Your cream cheese is ready.

    To Assemble The Cake.

    • Slice the cake diagonally into two halves.
    • Now place one half of the cake on a cake stand and smear cream cheese frosting all over it.
    •  Now place the other sliced piece over this smeared cream cheese cake.
    • Now spread the remaining cream cheese once again all over the cake, covering it completely.

    KitchenMasti Points.

    1. Always add vinegar at the end when your are about to bake a cake. You will get a light and fluffy cake.
    2. Preheat the oven 10 minutes before baking the cake.
    3. You can add 1 / 2 cup of beet root puree for that extra bright red colour.
