Cabbage Paratha Recipe

People who dislike cabbage, need not give up eating this vegetable but can consume it by preparing this cabbage paratha. It is a very simple and an easy dish to prepare. Usually kids create a lot of fuss in eating this vegetable, so you can convince them by preparing this paratha. Here, in this recipe, we mix wheat flour with chopped cabbage, spices and knead it into a soft pliable dough. Later on, roll this into chapathis.

How To Prepare Cabbage Paratha

The time taken to prepare this dish is around 30 minutes and the quantity mentioned here is enough for 4 servings.

Ingredients For Cabbage Paratha.


  • Cabbage - 1 cup.
  • Wheat flour - 1 cup.
  • Salt - as required.
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp.
  • Jeera powder ( cumin powder ) - 1 / 2 tsp.
  • Garam masala powder - 1 / 2 tsp.
  • Coriander leaves - 3 sprigs.
  • Green chilli paste - 1 tsp.
  • Ghee - for greasing.

Method To Make Cabbage Paratha.


  • Discard the outermost layer of the cabbage and wash it thoroughly.
  • Chop it into a very fine pieces.
  • Take a big bowl, and add the chopped cabbage pieces.
  • Mix in wheat flour, salt, red chilli powder, chopped coriander leaves, jeera powder, green chilli paste, garam masala powder and mix it well with your fingers.
  • Later on, add little water and knead it into a soft pliable dough.
  • Add 1 tbsp of oil and mix it well.
  • Close the lid and keep the dough aside for 20 minutes.
  • Roll out lemon sized balls.
  • Dust the ball with the flour and roll into 4 inch sized diameter circles.
  • Heat a griddle or a nonstick pan and roast the parathas on both the sides till brown spots appear on it.
  • Grease ghee lavishly on both the sides.

Kitchen masti Points.

  1. You can replace butter with ghee for a different taste.
  2. Setting aside the dough for a few minutes is important for a softer parathas.
  3. You can add 3 tbsp of soya flour while kneading the dough for a healthier paratha.
