Mango, the king of fruits can be consumed in numerous ways by preparing variety of dishes. India is an extremely diverse country. Every region has its own traditions and cultures and so, each region has its own unique cuisine. Therefore, you can expect diversity in tastes. Today, I am sharing a red hot spicy South Indian version of aam panna. In the North Indian version you would find aam panna to be a bit on the sweeter side but here it is much more spicier. Aam panna is popular in Malnad and South kanara places in Karnataka. This drink is one of the best remedy to lower body temperature during summer.

How To Prepare Aam Panna / Raw Green Mango Drink
The time taken to prepare this drink is around around 20 minutes and the quantity mentioned here is enough for 4 servings.Ingredients For Aam Panna.
- Raw Mango - 1.
- Salt - as required.
- Roasted Jeera Powder ( cumin powder ) - 1 tsp.
- Asafoetida - 1 tsp.
- Pepper powder - 1 / 2 tsp.
- Green chilli - 1.
- Sugar - 1 tsp.
Method To Make Aam Panna.
- Wash and peel the outer layer of the mango.
- Pressure cook until 2 whistles.
- Keep the mango aside for some time to allow it to cool down.
- Now take a mixer jar and add green chilli, roasted jeera, salt, sugar, pepper powder and asafoetida.
- Mash the cooled mango and transfer it to the jar.
- Run the mixer till the ingredients are well blended along with 1 / 4 th cup of water.
- Strain the ground ingredients through a siever and collect it into a big bowl
- Add 2 cups of cold water and mix it well.
- Transfer the aam panna in tall serving glasses
Your hot and spicy aam panna is ready to be served!!!

- You can also roast the Jeera ( Cumin seeds ) well in advance and powder it
- A few mint leaves can be added for a unique taste.
- You can omit green chilli for a less spicy taste.
- Serve the drink along with crushed ice.
