Arrabbiata Penne Pasta Recipe

Arrabbiata penne pasta is a continental dish originated in Italy but now it has been globally recognized as a hot spicy dish  It looks very attractive due to the presence of tomato puree and the tangy taste of the tomatoes makes the pasta more lip smacking. Here in this recipe, we have to prepare a sauce called arrabbiata sauce using tomato puree and toss it along with some Italian herbs to give an Italian touch.

How To Prepare Arrabbiata Penne Pasta.

The time required to prepare this dish is around 30 minutes and the ingredients mentioned here is enough for 3 servings.

Ingredients For Arrabbiata Penne Pasta.



  • Aarabita Penne Pasta - 2 cups.
  • Tomato puree - 1 cup.
  • Salt - as required.
  • Oregano - 1 tsp.
  • Basil leaves - 5 leaves.
  • Red chilli  flakes - 1 / 2 tsp.
  • Olive oil - 2 tsp.
  • Garlic - 5 cloves.
  • Parmesan cheese - 2 tbsp.
  • Sugar - 2 tsp.
  • Rad chilli powder - 1 tsp.
  • Onion - 1.
  • Cherry tomatoes - 6.
  • Broccoli - 3 or 4 florets.
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Pepper powder - 1 / 2 tsp


Arrabbiata Penne Pasta


Method To Make Arrabbiata Penne Pasta.


  • Heat a broad pan filled with 5 cups of water adding 1 tsp of oil in it.
  • When the water starts boiling, add the penne pasta and allow it to boil.
  • When done, switch off the flame and sieve the pasta through the strainer.
  • Place the pasta under the running water for a minute and strain the pasta. Keep it aside.
  • Now, heat a broad nonstick pan on a medium heat.
  • Add olive oil to it.
  • Add chopped garlic and saute for a minute.
  • Add chopped onions, tomatoes and broccoli in it. Fry for around 2 minutes.
  • Mix in tomato puree and stir.
  • Add oregano, basil leaves, red chilli powder, pepper powder,  sugar and salt into it.
  • Now mix in the boiled penne pasta.
  • Mix it well so that that pasta gets coated with the tomato puree.
  • Finally add parmesan cheese, cherry tomatoes and red chilli flakes.

Your hot and spicy arrabbiata pasta is ready to be served.!!!!!!

  1. You can add 2 green chillis instead of red chilli powder.
  2. Use fusilli pasta or penne pasta exclusively for this dish.
  3. You can use tinned tomato puree also.
  4. Chopped bell peppers can be used to make it look more attractive.
  5. Sugar is added to overcome the tanginess of the tomatoes. So, increase or decrease the sugar as per your taste preference.
