My children are choco - addicts and hence when I came across this recipe, I tried it out immediately in my kitchen and to my utmost happiness it came out very well. Today I will share the same recipe with my own twists and turns, and hope that every one who tries out this recipe will be contended with it. It looks splendid, and goes on well during birthday parties and during Diwali festivals. Here, you will have to prepare the same burfi ( bars ) twice, once with a vanilla flavor and then, with a chocolate flavor. All you have to do is to spread the chocolate flavored mixture over the vanilla mixture, and when cooled, dice them into squares and enjoy the bars.
Now let's prepare the chocolate flavored burfi.

How To Prepare Vanilla - chocolate Burfi. ( Bars )
The ingredients mentioned here is enough to prepare 25 burfis and the time taken to prepare it is just around 15 minutes.Ingredients for the vanilla burfi.
- Maida ( all purpose flour ) - 1 cup.
- Ghee - 1 / 2 cup.
- Sugar - 2 cups.
- Vanilla essence -1 tsp.
Method To Make vanilla burfi.
- Grease a plate with ghee and keep it aside.
- Heat a pan with ghee in it.
- When heated add maida and roast for around 2 minutes and then, keep it aside.
- Meanwhile heat another deep bottomed pan with sugar and 1 cup of water in it.
- Keep stirring the sugar syrup until it reaches one thread consistency. One thread consistency means a thin string will be visible when the syrup is stretched between your thumb and the forefinger.
- Now add the roasted maida and vanilla essence and keep stirring the mixture for around 6 minutes till the mixture solidifies.
- Switch off the flame and transfer the vanilla mixture into the greased plate.
- Allow it to cool.
Now let's prepare the chocolate flavored burfi.
Ingredients For Chocolate Burfi.
- Maida ( all purpose flour ) - 1 cup.
- Sugar - 2 cups.
- Coco powder - 2 tbsp.
- Ghee -1 / 2 cup.
Method To Make Chocolate Burfi.
- The process is same as the previous one.
- Heat ghee in a pan and add Maida into it.
- Roast it for 2 minutes and switch off the flame. Keep the pan aside.
- Now heat another deep pan with sugar in it.
- Keep stirring until the sugar syrup reaches one string consistency.
- Now add the roasted maida and cocoa powder into it and keep stirring for around 5 minutes.
- Now transfer the cocoa mixture over the vanilla flavored mixture which is already spread on the greased plate.
- Allow it to cool for some time.
- Now cut the overlapped burfis ( bars ) into desired shapes of your choice.
Your tempting and delicious vanilla chocolate burfi is ready to be served.!!!
Kitchen Masti Points
- Attaining one string consistency in the sugar syrup is very important, or else the burfis cannot be cut into desired shapes.
- You can substitute the ghee with vanaspathi but as always the sweets prepared out of ghee are the best.
- You can store this sweet for around 1 week.
