Palak Paneer Recipe ( Hotel Style )

Palak paneer is a traditional and popular Punjabi dish which goes well with roti, naan, chapati, kulcha and so on. As the name itself indicates, in this dish, palak leaves are used in the form of puree. The curry is richened with the paneer cubes and certain spices are added for the additional taste. Palak leaves are rich in iron content and paneer cubes are rich in protein and calcium, thereby it is very nutritious and a tasty gravy.




How To Prepare Palak Paneer Gravy.

The ingredients mentioned here is enough for 4 servings and the time taken to prepare this is around thirty minutes.

Ingredients For Palak Paneer


  • Palak leaves ( spinach leaves ) - 6 bunches
  • Paneer cubes ( cottage cheese ) - 1 1/2 cup ( cubes )
  • Onion - 2.
  • Garam Masala -  2 tsp.
  • Salt - as required.
  • Butter - 1 tbsp.
  • Ginger  - 1 inch.
  • Garlic - 4 cloves.
  • Green chillies - 4.
  • Tomato - 1 small.
  • Oil - 1 tbsp.
  • Cream - 1 tbsp.
  • Kasoori methi. - 1 tsp.


Method To Make Palak Paneer.


  • Wash the palak leaves thoroughly and blanch it in hot water. Set it aside for some time so that it cools down.
  • Grind it in the mixer jar and form a puree out of it.
  • Heat a pan with oil in it.
  • Add chopped onion and saute in medium heat till it slightly changes its color.
  • Add chopped green chillies, garlic, ginger and tomato.
  • Fry for few seconds and allow it to cool for some time.
  • Now grind these fried ingredients.
  • Heat another Pan with oil in it
  • Add the ground ingredients and fry for around 2 minutes in a very low flame.
  • Add butter and fry once again for some seconds.
  • Mix in the palak puree, salt, garam masala powder, and kasoori methi.
  • Finally improve the texture of the gravy by adding cream into it.
  • Lastly add the paneer cubes and switch off the flame.

Your rich and tasty palak paneer curry is ready to be served.!!!

Kitchen Masti Points.


  1. Dunk the paneer pieces in lukewarm water for few minutes for a softer paneer.
  2. You can also deep fry the paneer pieces.
  3. If you wish for a spicier gravy, you can add 1 tsp of red chilli powder.
