Carrot Halwa Recipe - Hotel Style

Carrot Halwa is the most and famous traditional sweet dish famous both in North India as well as in South India. This sweet is prepared in many occasions as it is very tasty and easy to prepare. It becomes a lip smacking dessert when eaten along with ice cream. It is usually mixed with ghee and prepared, so it is very rich and therefore the calorie level is obviously very high. This desert can be made by using either normal carrots or Delhi carrots but normal carrots are the best option.

Carrots are rich in Vitamin A and so it is very helpful in maintaining your eye sight.

How To Prepare Carrot Halwa. 

This is a very simple and delicious desert and the time taken to prepare is around thirty to forty minutes.


Ingredients For Carrot Halwa.


  • Carrots - 1/2 kg 
  • Sugar - 1 cup.
  • Sugarless Mawa ( khova ) - 2 tbsp.
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp.
  • Milk - 1/2 cup.
  • Ghee  - 2 tbsp.

Method To Make Carrot Halwa.


  • First and fore most,  grate the carrots.
  • Now boil it in the microwave or in the cooker  till 1 whistle along with milk.
  • Heat a deep pan and add the boiled carrots to it.
  • Boil till the milk is evaporated. ( Use medium Flame )
  • Add sugar and keep stirring so that the halwa does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • After 15 minutes, add Khova and ghee in to it .
  • Mix in cardamom powder and stir well for some time.
  • Finally add cashew nuts to it.

Your rich and delicious Carrot Halwa is ready to be served.!!!

  1. You can replace milkmaid with ordinary milk for a richer taste but remember to decrease the sugar content in that case.
  2. Ghee can be added according to you requirements.
  3. This carrot halwa can be ideally stored in the refrigerator for around 1 week.
