Aloo Matar is one such side dish which goes on well with roti, naan, chapathis and so on . This curry has a distinctive flavor and is an all time favorite gravy. It is very easy to prepare and requires less time. The recipe goes as follows.
How To Prepare Aloo Matar.
This dish requires around thirty minutes to prepare and the ingredients mentioned here is enough for three servings.Ingredients For Aloo Matar.
- Potatoes ( Aloo ) - 3 medium sized.
- Green peas ( matar) - 3/4 cup.
- Tomatoes - 2.
- Green chili paste - 1 tsp.
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp.
- Red chili powder - 1 tsp.
- Salt - as per required.
- Ginger - garlic paste - 1 tsp.
- Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp.
- Cumin ( jeera) powder - 1/2 tsp.
- Cumin seeds ( jeera seeds ) - 1/2 tsp.
- Coriander leaves - 3 strings.
- Lemon juice - 1 tsp.
- Onions - 1 medium sized.
Method to Make Aloo Matar.
- First of all boil the potatoes in the pressure cooker until three whistles. Peel the outer skin and chop into medium sized pieces.
- Take a pan and add 2 tbsp of oil in it.
- Add cumin seeds and allow it to crackle. Once it starts to crackle add the chopped onions into it and saute for few minutes till the onions turn translucent.
- Now add chopped tomatoes and salt in it and fry till the tomatoes are boiled.
- Now add turmeric powder ,green chillie paste , red chilie powder, Garam Masala powder, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder and fry for few seconds.
- Add the chopped potato pieces and 1 cup of water and allow it to boil for few seconds.
- Finally add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice in it.
- Garnish with fresh cream and serve it with chapati or roti.
Kitchen Masti Points.
- If you wish for a thicker gravy, you can mash one boiled aloo and mix it with the gravy.
- You can also replace lemon juice with amchur powder ( mango powder) if desired.
