If you are an Indian , you would surely know what a masala puri is and how it tastes.Its one of the most famous chat recipe available in India. You would hardly meet a person who would dislike masala puri..This is one of the chats that is easily available on the streets.The South Indian Masala Puri (Bangalore) has slightly different taste and style when compared to the North(Delhi,Mumbai), I have merged both the types and prepared it in my own way.
In fact, I got this recipe from the near by chatwaala who is quite famous in my locality. I am grateful to him. The very next day itself, I tried out this recipe at my home. And it came out very well.
In fact, my guests were so amused that they mistook that the chat I prepared was actually from the hotel.
So, I thought it would be nice if I share it with all of you.
How To Prepare Masala Puri
You can prepare the puri yourself or get it from the local shop which is easily available.However, I will show you How to Prepare Puri for masala puri
Ingredients For Puri
- Chiroti Rava - 1 Cup
- Maida - 1 Cup
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Water
- Oil
Mix everything and prepare a stiff dough.
Roll out small puris . Press with the fork so that it doesnt blow up.
Deep fry in oil till it gets slightly brown
Remove it and place it over the tissue paper
Ingredients For Masala
- Cinnamon - 4
- Cloves - 4
- Anni Seeds - 1 tsp
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Red Chili - 12
- Coconut Gratings - 1/4 cup
- Coriander Seeds - 1/2 Cup
- Mace - 2 or 3
- Gram Seeds - 3/4 Cup
- Salt
- Marati Moggu - 3
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Garlic - 5 cloves.
- Coriander Leaves
- Pudina Leaves.
- Peas - 1 cup
- Chat Masala - 1 Cup
- Black Salt - 1/2 tsp
- Onions - 3
- Sev - 1/2 cup
- Tomatoes - 1 or 2
- Sweet Chutney - 1 tsp
- Red Chutney - 2 tsp
Method To Prepare Masala Puri
- Grind cloves, cinnamon, anni seeds, jeera, red chili, coconut gratings , coriander seeds, gram dal, marati moggu, ginger , garlic, coriander leaves ,salt and pudina. Keep it aside after grinding.
- Boil Peas, smash it slightly and mix with water and salt., so that it becomes slightly thick.and looks like ragada
Kitchen Masti Points
Take a plate.Break the puris into small pieces. Add the ragada in it. Sprinkle Chat Masala, Black salt coriander leaves ,sweet chutney and red chutney onion pieces, sev and tomatoes. Add Two teas spoons of curds if desired.
The ragada can be prepared and preserved in the fridge. Meanwhile, you can use the ragada alternatively for somosa masala, and kachori masala.
During Birthday parties, this chat will hold good. If you prepare masala poori at home, it would be more healthier that its road side version.
