How To Prepare Cucumber Dosa
Even though, this dish sounds cumbersome, it is actually very easy to prepare. Here goes the list of ingredients that you would basically require.
Ingredients For Cucumber Dosa
- Raw Rice - 1 cup
- Cucumber - 2
- Green chillies - 2
- Coconut scrapings - 1/2 cup
- Jaggery - 1/4 cup
- Salt - as desired.
- Oil
Method To Prepare Cucumber Dosa
- Firstly, soak the rice for around 3 to 4 hours. In case if it is urgent, soak it in boiled water.
- Takes the mixer jar and add rice, salt, green chilies, coconut scrapings, jaggery.
- Grind to a smooth consistency.
- Peal the cucumber skin and scrap it and keep it aside for 5 - 10 minutes so that the water content will be released and get collected.
- Then squeeze the cucumber and separate it from the water content
- Finally add it to the batter.
- Heat the tawa / pan.
- Smear a tea spoon of oil and spread the batter over the tawa / pan
- Close the lid and let it stay for around 5 minutes.
- Then, add a tea spoon of oil and flip the dosa and roast another side of it.
- When the brown spots appear , remove it and serve it on a plate along with coconut chutney and ghee.
Now, you cucumber dosa is ready to be eaten.
Kitchen Masti Points
While grinding the rice , you can add cucumber water content instead of water which is very beneficial for health.
See to it that the dosa batter does not become too watery , otherwise the dosa will turn out to be very hard. And please remember that this dosa will not be very crispy like other dosa. So, do not expect and try to make the dosa very crispy. In fact , it does not matter if you add only 2 cucumber as I have mentioned in the ingredients list. You can increase the cucumber content and decrease the coconut scrapings also, which would also be a boon for cholesterol patients.
If you desire, you can also add coriander leaves while grinding. Its just another variation.
Cucumber is very useful for diabetic patients., however, jaggery can be omitted from the ingredients for such people.
